My Daughter’s Wedding

I am personally writing this blog entry because the occasion that took place was very close to my heart —

My fascination with Italy is pretty much known to everyone I know. I’ve always been mesmerized by the city of Venice due to its striking architecture, winding canals, beautiful bridges and art. Years ago, I took my daughters, Holly and Ani, to visit the country I call an “open museum.” We visited the small island in Venice where the Armenian Catholic Monastery of San Lazzaro resides. They both fell in love with this historic and beautiful monastery in the blue waters of Venice.

Now, years later, my youngest daughter Ani, met the love of her life, Christ, and planned to be married in May 2020 in the Armenian Catholic Monastery of San Lazzaro in Venice, Italy followed by a reception at the Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort. The venue, Hotel Excelsior, as my daughter described, is deeply romantic. Their large chandeliers and ceiling to floor length windows overlooking the beautiful waters of Venice, with the glimmering lights of St. Mark's Square in the distance was a dream.

However, like many couples of 2020 with so many months of planning, fate had other plans. In May of 2021, the couple celebrated their love in the romantic setting of The Majestic Downtown in Los Angeles.

Ani’s wedding gown was designed to be as grand and whimsical as the Venetian venue fit perfectly at the Majestic whilst representing Ani’s artistic personality. Ani and I had an exciting time sourcing the fabric. We fell in love with the off white gazer with bold gold lamé flowers, lined in off white and pink ombre silk taffeta. I draped Ani’s cathedral veil with gold flowers cut out from her dress fabric.

Their wedding reception was truly majestic. The inspiration of the Venetian art and architecture was present in the historic Majestic building, with beautiful brown marble pillars, arched windows, crystal chandeliers, and hand painted Italian ceilings.

My oldest daughter, Holly, and I made sure to take Ani and Christ’s vision for their wedding reception and create the room that would represent who they are and their love. The rich brown marble of the Majestic inspired our decision to style the hall with brown chair covers and draping fulfilling Ani’s and Christ’s wishes. Their wedding was covered with rich red roses and candle runners which filled the room with elegance and romance.

Amirah Kassem of FLOUR SHOP created delicious multiple sized gold sprinkle filled cakes. It added a playful touch to Ani and Christ’s wedding celebration. I appreciate all of my amazing colleagues for helping us make the wedding we will never forget.

Congratulations to the happy couple! This was a mother’s dream come true.

Love,

Arminé
