"Birth of Venus" Gown for Inspiration Shoot

When we were given the opportunity to create a gown embodying “The Birth of Venus,” we instantly felt inspired. We’ve always said that our brides are classic, with an edge, and this one-time controversial painting perfectly fits our essence.

From Designer and Florist Shawna Yamamoto:

“...It depicts the goddess Venus arriving at the shore after her birth, when she had emerged from the sea fully-grown.  She is surrounded by other Gods in the image that represent the wind and seasons, you can see the wind blowing blossoms around and their clothes all have an organic motif to them.  The painting is very sensual and we wanted to show her sensuality and beauty by rising up to her - creating a feast of sorts to celebrate her birth and all she would stand for.”

All she would stand for- grace, natural beauty, and romance. We enveloped our bespoke gown in dimensional lace for an understated romance, and added draping on the back to emote opulence and nod back to the painting’s era. We combined the elements in the form of a mermaid silhouette, which added movement and perennial character.
